That can be a daunting and frustrating task even in the best of situations. There's lots to consider in order to make the right decision for your needs. Below you'll find some help when evaluating OC3 vs OC12 vs OC48. Factors covered include Technology, Speed, Description, Application, Pros, Cons, and Cost.

~~~~~~~~~
Technology: OC3
Speed: 155.52 Mbps
Description: Optical carrier (fiber) connected by equipment capable of speeds up to 155.52 Mbps.
Application: Large enterprise or ISP backbone.
Pros: Extremely high speed and throughput.
Cons: Extremely high cost.
Costs: Expect cost of an OC3 to start at around a $10-30,000 for a stable, reliable system (e.g. from a Tier 1 provider).....not including local loop or extensive setup. However....the pricing for these connections can vary widely depending on the carrier, location of service and the application for which the connection is being used. For example...Tier 1 providers may cost more than local/regional Tier 2 and Tier 3 providers but are much more stable and reliable. A Tier 1 provider should always be the provider of choice for any business serious about the quality of their OCx network.
~~~~~~~~~~

Technology: OC12

Speed: 622.08 Mbps

Description: Optical carrier (fiber) connected by equipment capable of speeds up to 622.08 Mbps.

Application: Large enterprise or ISP backbone.

Pros: Extremely high speed and throughput.

Cons: Extremely high cost.

Costs: Expect cost of an OC12 to start at around $1-300,000+ for a stable, reliable system (e.g. from a Tier 1 provider)..... plus several hundred thousand dollars in setup costs. However....the pricing for these connections can vary widely depending on the carrier, location of service and the application for which the connection is being used. A Tier 1 provider should always be the provider of choice for any business serious about the quality of their OCx network.

~~~~~~~~~~
Technology: OC48
Speed: 2.488 Gbps (Gigabytes per second)
Description: Optical carrier (multiple strands of fiber) connected by equipment capable of speeds up to 2.488 Mbps.
Application: Large enterprise or ISP backbone.
Pros: Extremely high speed and throughput.
Cons: Extremely high cost.
Costs: Expect cost of an OC48 to start at around $3-500,000 for a stable, reliable system (e.g. from a Tier 1 provider)..... plus several hundred thousand dollars in setup costs. However....the pricing for these connections can vary widely depending on the carrier, location of service and the application for which the connection is being used. To ensure your future success, you should focus all of your efforts on building the size of your list. You should offer something of value to those who subscribe to your list. I offer an Internet marketing book to subscribers and it works extremely well. Subscribers are more than willing to provide their name and email address to receive something that they perceive as having value.
For a while, I was offering a master resell rights package to entice visitors to subscribe. I was pretty happy with the numbers as about 16% of the visitors to my site subscribed to my list. Then I started to offer an Internet marketing book and my subscription numbers increased dramatically. When giving away the Internet marketing book, my subscription rates soared to better than 25%.
It is important to focus all of your marketing efforts toward building your list. Many experts say that you should link some of your traffic to a product that you are selling. I disagree. If you send traffic to a sales page and, for some reason, they don't buy the product, you've lost that prospect forever. You will never have another opportunity to sell anything to that prospect. If instead, you direct them to your squeeze page and they subscribe, you can send them sales information on that same product 5 or 6 times over the next few weeks (or months). You've effectively increased your chances of making a sale of that product by six fold. In addition, you will have the opportunity to sell them other products along the way. So you can see, it is important to build your list as quickly as possible.
In addition to a great Internet marketing book, you've got to have a quality squeeze page. Your squeeze page is designed to do one thing, get the name and email address of your visitor. Do not place ads or any other diversions on your squeeze page. You want 100% of your prospects attention focused on subscribing. Do not give them an opportunity to click away to another product or site. Make your Internet marketing book (or whatever you offer) so compelling, they almost have to subscribe.
Do you want to learn more about how I make money? I have just completed a brand new Internet marketing book entitled, How To Make Money Every Day!
Make Money Every Day - FREE
Free ebook - Make Some Money
Make Money With Your Own Ebook
Streamyx List of Packages
Streamyx Free Modem
Streamyx Packages
Streamyx Coverage
Streamyx
Streamyx Online Registration
Streamyx Free Modem
Streamyx Self Care
Streamyx Cash Rebate
Streamyx Combo
Register Streamyx Online Now
Streamyx SOHO Package
Register Streamyx Online Now
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Registration Promotions
How to Troubleshoot Your Internet Connection for DSL or Cable Service
One of the common problems among internet users is testing their internet connection to pinpoint the exact problem. There is a big number of internet users who use DSL, and cable modem service.
You set us your connection the way your ISP (internet service provider)instruct you to. Sometimes, it doesn't work for numerous reasons.
You service is not ready, your hardware in not connected properly, or your ISP is having problems.
Whatever the cause of the problem maybe, there are some diagnostic tools you can use in Windows XP, in order to identify the problem.
If you are not exact in your diagnostic, you will get a good idea at least.
Before we get to the diagnostic tools, let us discuss what is involved in an internet connection.
The information travels over the internet to your computer through your ISP service. This is done through a High speed modem then to a network card installed in your computer.
Your computer is called a host, your service provider will give you the DNS IP address, and you get your login and password. That is all what you have from your ISP.
Sometimes, your internet connection fails, and you want to find out the problem. You may be able to fix it, or at least get some information about the problem to advise your isp for help.
You will start by accessing the command prompt by going in sequence to:
Start menu, program, accessories, then command prompt. A window will open where you type commands from the prompt.
At the command prompt, you type: IPCONFIG. This command will give you the active network connection on your computer. Here is an example:
PPP adapter Copy :
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 68.239.158.45
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 68.239.158.45
The above output was produced when I ran the Ipconfig command on my own computer running Window XP OS, and A DSL connection. The IP address is my computer address assigned by the ISP.
Please note, you can add an option to this command, in order to get more detailed information about your connection. Here is the output, when I ran the same command with the "all" option.
Ipconfig /ALL
PPP adapter Copy :
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-53-45-00-00-00
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 68.239.158.45
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 68.239.158.45
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 151.198.0.39 151.197.0.39 NetBIOS over TCP/IP. . . . . . . . : Disabled
Notice now, the output includes the phisycal address of the network interface card installed in my computer. Also, you see the DNS IP addresses. With the above information, I didn't have any problems.
Supposed ,I disconnect my DSL connection and ran the command again, this is the new result:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
Notice in this case, where I disconnected my connection, you don't get a DNS server. This tells you that I am not connected to the internet.
Also, notice the IP address starts with 192.168, which is the default address whenever your computer is not connected to the internet.
Another command is the ping command. It will allow to check if a computer is connected to the network and ready to communicate, whether intranet, or internet.
Once you run it,it will sent a packet to the computer specified and gives the time it took for the packet to travel. This is an a output when I tried to ping www.yahoo.com:
C:>ping www.yahoo.com
Pinging www.yahoo.akadns.net [216.109.118.66] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 216.109.118.66: bytes=32 time=35ms TTL=55
Reply from 216.109.118.66: bytes=32 time=39ms TTL=55
Ping statistics for 216.109.118.66:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 35ms, Maximum = 39ms, Average = 38ms.
That shows that the host was reachable, and connected to the internet.
A very important command is the Nslookup. This will let you check if DNS (domain name server) is working properly. The function of the DNS server is to translate ip addresses to domain name of the networked computer. Here is an example:
C:> nslookup www.yahoo.com
Server: home5.bellatlantic.net
Address: 151.198.0.39
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.yahoo.akadns.net
Addresses: 216.109.118.67
Aliases: www.yahoo.com
So, you enter the name after Nslookup, it will give you IP addresses and vice versa.
In summary, there more commands in Windows Xp, but using the three above commands should give you a good idea about your internet connection problems. You can find where the problem is occurring. Is it your machine, or the ISP.
Thanks,
George Chamoun
For tips about your Windows XP computer, visit our new website: http://www.ResolveWindowsXpProblems.com
Streamyx Combo 512k
Streamyx Business Broadband
Streamyx Promotion
Streamyx Combo 160
Streamyx
Streamyx Business
Streamyx
Streamyx Business Enterprise
Streamyx Combo 140
Streamyx Packages
Streamyx Combo 512k
Streamyx Activation Waiver
WIMax
Streamyx Business
Streamyx
Switching Broadband Providers
For millions of broadband users who may be tempted by a better deal from another provider, the fear has always been that of being stuck in an internet-less limbo? waiting until their new service is switched on.
Thankfully, changes to the way switches take place have dramatically improved the situation.
On 14 February 2007, Ofcom introduced a code of conduct for moving between broadband service providers called the MAC Code of Conduct.
If they wish to switch, broadband customers need a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC). The Migration Authorisation Code is a 17 to 19-digit unique identifier code consisting of both letters and numbers.
MACs usually begin with "BBIP", "FTIP", "BBDS", or "BBDP", and consist of 4 letters, 7 numbers (sometimes up to 9), a forward slash, 2 letters, 2 numbers, and 1 final letter.
Once requested, your internet provider should provide you the MAC code within 5 working days. This code will then be valid for 30 days in which the customer may switch broadband providers. While it should not take any longer than 10 working days to switch your broadband, there is no set limit imposed on broadband providers to switch you to a new provider and it can take up to 5 weeks.
Your internet service provider cannot refuse your request for a MAC code and must not charge you for the code either. This was introduced to help ease the process of switching your broadband and also allowing the switch to be done in just a few hours resulting in a temporary loss of internet.
The only exceptions for refusal are as follows:
?The account holder does not comply with standard checks by the ISP
?A contract is already terminated
?The MAC has already been requested
?The ISP has already submitted a cease request
?The ISP is unable to obtain a MAC from ISP whom customer is switching to
These rules were set by Ofcom, although, some broadband providers have been known to bend the rules just a little.
This has led some questions about whether some broadband service providers try and make it as difficult as possible for you to switch.
Even though broadband providers must comply with the rules, most providers will try to convince you to stay. They may question you about who you wish to move to and your reasons why and single out comparisons between themselves and their competitor in an attempt to hold on to you as a customer.
In some cases they may offer you something in return for your loyalty as a customer, for example a free upgrade to a higher level of service.
From your perspective, if you are satisfied with the level of service on offer from your existing provider, it always makes sense to listen to any offers that are made.
However, if you are determined to switch, you should so ?and the new MAC system should make it a lot easier to do so.
If you are interested in taking advantage of current broadband internet technology then you should compare many broadband providers available in your area.
Streamyx
Streamy FAQ
Streamyx Combo 110
Streamyx Combo 160
About Streamyx Combo
Streamyx
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx Corporate
Streamyx Online Registration
Streamyx Business Soho
Streamyx Wireless
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx
WIMax
About Streamyx Combo
Why Bundle Wii? Nintendo Wii A Sure Hit For The Holidays
As a middle-aged father of 1, I have recently been exposed to Nintendo Wii for the first time, by my 14 year old daughter. Her mom had bought it for her last week, and I am sure it cost a bundle. Wii is the latest and greatest video game console from Nintendo. Wii is also, possibly the most important development in the history of the home video game console, because of it's potential to cause us to exercise.
Stores that bundle Wii consoles with activity-based Nintendo Wii games, could very well be adding to the activity deficiencies of the kids they are bought for this Christmas for the first time ever! Nintendo Wii has the potential to capture the attention of multiple generations of families at once, but needs to be sold in a bundle. Wii is the first video game technology, with the potential to make us sweat sufficiently to classify it as excercise.
That is amazing! And as far as issues with obesity and inactivity with kids and their health it will save our health system a bundle. Wii video consoles will hopefully be under the trees of chubby couch potatoes of all ages this Christmas.
I was rather unimpressed with the Nintendo Wii initially, but after half an hour I was hooked, I just wish she had rented the game bundle , as I could have played all night. The entire console does not cost a bundle, Wii should pay for itself just in the added activity you will gain from it.
The active-play phenomenon originated by Wii Sports today fans out to the entire body thanks to the pressure-sensitive Wii Balance Board if that what the name ends up as, which comes as a bundle - Wii Fit.
The board is utilised for a comprehensive range of exciting and energetic activities, including aerobic exercise, yoga, muscle stretchings and games. A lot of of these actions center on allowing for a "core" workout, a common workout technique that emphasises slower, controlled motions. The whole family can have fun while remaining active and discussing and comparing their results and advancement with this exciting new Wii bundle.
Nintendo Wii Bundle Wii For Christmas Building The Ultimate Nintendo Wii Room
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo 110
Streamyx Combo 512k
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo 90
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx Combo 160
Streamyx
Broadband Malaysia
Streamyx - No rental
Streamyx Activation Waiver
Streamyx subang Jaya
Streamyx Tmpoint
Streamyx 512k
Streamyx
<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://streamyx-wireless-98358.blogspot.com/2008/07/why-bundle-wii-nintendo-wii-sure-hit.html' title='Why Bundle Wii? I searched on line and through the yellow pages, only to find that there are an uncountable number of high speed internet options out there. However, as I sifted through all of the consumer sites and user reviews, I found that SBC DSL may, indeed, be the best bet for bringing high speed internet to my home office.
According to many a review, SBC DSL is the most reliable DSL service out there. They also happen to be the largest in many major metropolitan areas in the country, or at least those serviced by Southwestern Bell. SBC DSL has a spectacular reputation among consumers for having technologically advanced products, great customer service, and good competitive prices on their service. The only drawback I could find is that several SBC DSL customers found setting up a home network to be difficult. However, by simply converting to wireless internet, you can solve that problem and still have your SBC DSL connection all over your home.
A big advantage of SBC DSL is that in most cases you can get a free modem and setup. Setup can be one of the more frustrating parts of getting high speed internet, especially if you are not technically savvy. Many companies charge a setup fee, so that savings alone can make SBC DSL attractive to you. Installation can be difficult, and there is charge for that. However, if you do it yourself they waive the fee and you will still have access to the very knowledgeable and helpful SBC DSL customer service representatives.
Many high speed and DSL internet companies will not be willing to give you a firm date as to when you can get your connection taken care of. That is another way that SBC DSL is different. Once you place an order you are given an installation date, which is as a general rule about six business days out from when you call. Such convenience and up front commitment from a company makes it easier for you to arrange your schedule around setup and installation plenty of time in advance without fear that you will have to make more last minute changes to your busy schedule.
There are a ton of high speed internet options out there today. There are cable internet, DSL companies, wireless internet over cell phone signals, and even high speed dial up connections. Each one tells you that it is the best for converting your office or home to high speed internet connection. Which, though, is the best? That is hard to say definitively as prices and services vary by area, but the one with the best reputation around is SBC DSL. With the gaining popularity of these on line communication tools, you should understand exactly what these things really are and how they do what they do.
Broadband phone actually uses voice over internet protocol (VoIP) to carry phone calls through the internet. This is an alternative way to transmit the call to the traditional telephony network. To say it another way, the calls go through the internet instead of traveling through traditional phone lines.
How does it work, though? The VoIP, when you place a broadband phone call, converst your voice into what can be best described as tiny digital packages. These packages are fired over the internet and then changed back to the signals necessary for the receiver to transmit them in language that you understand as the voice on the other end.
To get a broadband phone, you do have some options. A hardware broadband telephone uses an adapter. You connect this hardware to the router on your network or to your PC directly. Another option is software. The broadband software is a program that makes broadband calls.
This technology is being called the future of communications. Such hype is sending communications companies into a frenzy as they race to offer it so as not to get left in the dust as more and more of the public drops traditional phone service for broadband phones. Companies that fail to get in on the broadband call business risk going the way of the dodo. With that in mind, many of the companies are already offering VoIP technology, and every day more are joining in.
The reason the broadbad phone companies are so popular is that they can be done cheaper than traditional phone services. You see, because the calls bypass regulary Telco tolls, the companies using broadband can offer much lower rates. This is particularly true on long distance calls, making them similar to cell phones in that sense. While currently the broadband phone services may not offer quite as much reliability and quality as traditional phone lines, the technology is improving almost constantly and wont be far behind. For the money, though, the internet is already showing itself as the way to go to save on phone service.
If you decide that going with one of the many broadband phone companies is the way you want to go, then you will need to make sure you have a couple of things so that your transition to cheaper phone calls will be smooth. First, you will need to make sure you have a good reliable broadband internet service in your home. You will next need a telephony adapter installed. You will be plugging your home phone into the telephony adapter which will then plug into your cable or DSL modem with a network cable. Since internet connections are reliant on the modem which is powered by electricity, you will lose your phone service if you lose power. One thing you may want to consider, since you wont lose your cables function with an electricity loss, is to get some sort of power source you can plug into the modem in case of a power outage. Get all of that together, call the company of your chose, and you will be using the internet to make your phone calls before you know it.
Christopher M. VoIP is a digital technology that lets you make telephone calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular phone line. The technology offers features and services traditional phone service may lack.
WiFi is an internet connection 'hot spot' that allows callers to make and receive phone calls over the Internet. Business centers, hotels, cafes are examples of possible WiFi 'hot spots' locations. Usability of these centers depends on users' wireless capabilities and their device distance from the source, which is a maximum of 300 feet.
The jolt 1ButtonToWiFi makes in the arena of broadband phone service VoIP is that you can be 2000 miles away or even in a moving vehicle and still make super-cheap phone calls with a press of a single button.
It doesn't matter if it's your home, office or cell phone - you can still connect to the network through a smart plug-and-play device that connects to your existing broadband DSL or cable connection.
1Button To WiFi comes loaded with features like call waiting, voice mail, caller ID and more. While other VoIP providers charge monthly fees, 1 Button To WiFi offers no-contract monthly fees - pay-as-you-go.
Families and friends who need to stay in touch and keep their phone bills ultra-low welcome free box-to-box calls. Five additional users can be added to a single account for free as well.
But is this new service technology for you?
In order to hook up with it, you need to have an existing DSL or cable internet connection. If, however, you have one and want to make calls for free or super-cheap, 1ButtonToWiFi may be a valuable addition to your money-saving arsenal of products or services.
Learn more - watch a free 1ButtonToWiFi Review video right now and see how thousands use 1ButtonToWiFi and save big on their long-distance and international phone calls.
Streamyx Business
Streamyx Combo 140
Streamyx Business Soho
Streamyx Promotion
Streamyx Combo 110
Streamyx Promotion
Streamyx Combo 512k
WIMax
Streamyx Activation Waiver
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo 2MB
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx Free Gifts
Streamyx
Streamyx
Mobile Broadband From O2 - Is It Too Little, Too Late?
O2 recently announced their mobile broadband offering, making them the last of the big 5 operators to get involved in that online world. But is their offering good enough? Is it too little too late?
Mobile Broadband - why is it important?
Mobile broadband is changing the world, no two ways about it. The ability to get online, and to get broadband speeds of upwards of 1.8Mbps, while in motion, is a great thing to have. Just imagine surfing the net on the train, or on holiday, or in a pub, or even on the beach, all using your own connection, and all getting the kind of super-fast speeds you'll get at home. That's what mobile broadband is, and that's why it's great.
Of the big 5 networks, 4 of them already offer amazing deals on mobile broadband. You've got T-Mobile, the trend-setter, the first ones to really go headlong into it. You've got Three, the funky one, offering super-cheap mobile broadband deals. You've got Orange, the unlimited one (well, unlimited, but capped), with a sexy, slim modem. And you've got Vodafone, the fast one, with speeds up to 7.2Mbps. But where's O2 in that list?
O2 Mobile Broadband - was it worth the wait?
Well, now, O2 have announced their mobile broadband offering. And, I'm sorry to say, it's rubbish. The cheapest package comes in at 20 per month, which is nowhere near good enough, when compared to the other 4 networks. And then there is the big killer, the big fly in the ointment. You can only get O2 mobile broadband if you're already an existing O2 customer. Erm. Hello? O2? That's rubbish. Do you not want new customers on your network?? All in all, it's a serious let-down, and a real shame.
Looks like it can be summed up in one phrase, unfortunately. O2: great for mobile phones, absolute bobbins for mobile broadband...
Expert on mobile phones and mobile broadband, having worked in the industry for over 7 years.
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo 60
Streamyx Broadband
Streamyx Speedometer
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Combo 384k
Streamyx Online Registration
Streamyx Business Broadband
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo Terms and Conditions
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx
Streamyx Self Installation Guide
Streamyx Combo
Eclipse Broadband Provider in UK
Started as a Southwest ISP in 1995, Eclipse Broadband has achieved monumental growth as a reliable Internet Service Provider in the UK. We recently went through several sites and found ourselves somewhat frustrated and confused.
We want it to be easier for you to select an online registration provider because you have a lot to gain from making the switch. In this paper we will help you understand what to look for and which questions to ask when selecting an online registration provider?/i>
What do I look at first?
First impressions say a lot about a company. If it is easy to obtain and understand information about their service, then it is more likely that their product and company are easy to work with. If it takes too much up-front effort on your part, then it may be a sign of whats to come.
How responsive were their sales people to your calls or emails? Did it take hours or days to hear back? Did you like interacting with them? How clear were their features and pricing? Did you get straight answers, or need to really dig to get to the bottom line? As much as you are buying technology, you are buying the people who make the technology and their ability to make your life easier.
How do I determine which system will be easiest to use?
Most providers will talk about their ease of setup and use. Depending on your technical aptitude and the complexity of your event, you may or may not agree with their claims. Something to consider: the simpler a system seems at first, the less likely it is to have advanced functionality that you may quickly hunger for. When you look at a system, its important to consider both simplicity and functionality. If you go with a very simple system for eases sake, you may miss out on some important functionality or vice versa.
The best way to truly understand ease-of-use is to play around with the system yourself. Most companies have a demo account where you can log into their system and setup or play with a registration form. When you do this, ask yourself?Is the interface intuitive? Can I figure out how to do most of what I want to do with it? Would my coworkers be able to understand and use this system? Sometimes you can also get a sense of the system through their live online demos. Its best to see the live application in use, versus a PowerPoint, to show you how the system works.
If you have relatively complex registration needs, you will need a system that is more robust and therefore may appear less simple. In this case you will want to pay greater attention to their training and support (which we will cover later).
What is the easiest way to figure out if they really have the functionality I need?
An easy way to check if their functionality fits your needs is to fax your current registration form to the salespeople. Make an additional list of your management and reporting needs and identify them as either have to haves?or would like to haves? Ask the salesperson to walk through it with you and tell you what their system can and cannot do.
A great way to confirm their claims is to ask for and call references that have events that are similar to yours. This way, you can talk through how they used it and compare it to your own needs. Ask the references what functionality is missing and how easy it is to use.
Most systems cover the basic functions like collecting information, sending confirmation, reminder, and notification emails, processing credit cards, and producing basic reports. However, its the advanced features that are important to identify and compare. Some of these include wait listing, hotel blocks, custom reporting, mass emailing, surveying, and series meeting management. Within each one of these categories, there are a host of increasingly specific functions to consider.
If a provider is close, but doesnt have the exact functionality you need, some companies also offer customization services (for a fee). You tell the company what you need, and theyll tell you how much it would cost to customize their system to better meet your needs.
How do I know if the company will be there for me when I have questions or problems?
Support falls into three categories: online help, training, and one-on-one phone and email support.
If the online help is good, it will be the most efficient way for you to get quick answers 24/7. How easy is it to access? Is there context sensitive help that will give you help specific to the section you were in? How thorough and practical is the help? Do they offer how-tos, tips, and warnings? How often do they update the help? Updates are especially important with companies that are improving their technology on a weekly basis. Do they provide regular email updates on enhancements or changes? Some companies also offer flash mini-trainings that you can click on to watch at any time.
The next is training. What trainings do they offer? How often? Is there a charge for training? Do they have flash trainings that you can take whenever you like? What do customers say about their trainings?
As well as some of the systems are built, you most likely will have questions or needs that require a live person on the other end (especially if you dont have time for online help or training). The important questions then become: What is the average response time to an email or phone call? How helpful and friendly are they? How many clients per dedicated support employee (non-programmer) do they have? Do they have restrictions on how you can use support (email only, $ per incident, etc.)? Try asking the support team directly for the answers to these questions. The way they respond will tell you something too.
With some providers, they will build the registration pages for you (for a fee). If you are in a pinch for time or find it a hassle, this can be a life-saver, so be sure they have it.
How do I figure out the real bottom-line cost?
Unfortunately, pricing is one of the most confusing aspects of this industry. This has come as a result of providers trying to tailor their pricing to too many different client needs. Small events, large events, frequent events, processing credit cards, etc.. Here are the categories of pricing: per event, per registrant, % of transaction, annual fees, up-front fees, flat rate licensing fees, and additional service fees.
Mix all this together with volume discounts and long-term contracts, and there are a lot of numbers to look at. To sort them all out, start with a most likely scenario of what your events will look like for the next year and get the prices for that.
Create a spreadsheet and input all the numbers from the different providers to come up with a bottom-line price for each. Then weigh the total cost against all the other criteria discussed here. Dont make the mistake of going with the cheapest at the expense of missing out on features, stability, or good service.
Also, be careful with entering long-term contracts, just to get a better price. It is important to do a test-run with a couple events before locking into the long term (if at all). Some agreements have auto-renewal clauses that, without you really knowing, lock you in year-to-year.
What do I need to know about processing credit cards online?
If you are using their merchant account, how does billing work? How quickly do they pay you? Do they hold back on any portion? If so, for how long? Can you view real-time transactions? How easy is it to do refunds?
If you are using your own merchant account, do they support your gateway? How long does it take to connect up? How do you do refunds?
Pricing for merchant services can be confusing as well. If you are trying to decide if it makes more sense to create you own merchant account or use the providers merchant account, consider the following: If you use your own merchant account you will pay monthly, per transaction, % of transaction (plus their hidden non-qualified rates), as well as monthly, and per transaction gateway fees, plus whatever fees the registration provider requires for integrated processing. All totaled, you may be able to save a percent over if you used the providers merchant account. You need to weigh the potential savings with the hassles that go with setting up and managing your own merchant account, gateway, and all their fees.
How do I know which company I can count on to be around for years to come?
How long has the company been around? How many developers, support, and sales people? How long has it been profitable (if at all)? How is it funded? What is their employee turnover? What percentage of new business is from referrals?
A company that has a healthy percentage of referrals usually means they are investing well in their technology and people. As a result, they have a greater likelihood of being around for the long haul. Online registration has changed many peoples lives for the better, and created some great testimonials. The question is what percentage of the customers are raving fans? How consistent is the company and its technology with making people happy? One good way to find that out is to ask?What percentage of new business is from referrals?
What aspects of security and stability are important?
Is your information safe? How secure are their servers? Who has access to your information? If you will have multiple users or administrators accessing the system on your end, do you have the ability to set different security access levels?
All systems have down time (including the Yahoos and Amazons of the world). The question is how much? There are several factors that cause this: the internet, the host, the hardware, and the software. Be sure to ask how many times in the past year has the system gone down, and for how long? NO ONE has zero downtime. So, ask for specifics if they say rarely or not at all. What advanced notification do they give for downtime. What guarantees do they offer for uptime?
Will the technology grow with my needs?
A huge benefit of using an online registration provider, instead of hosting your own application, is the ability for the provider to make constant upgrades to improve the system. Which brings us to our next question, How committed is the company to improving their technology? How frequently are they making upgrades? Ask for the upgrades that were made in the past couple months and compare the amount of enhancements between systems.
How do I get my information out of these systems?
Reporting enables you to monitor ongoing progress of your registrations, plan for the event, and then manage the actual event. How easy or difficult is it to access the information you need? Do the standard reports give you what you need? Can you produce your own custom reports? Can you sort the reports the way you want? I bought this after having issues with another Wireless USB Adapter, it would drop connection at least a couple of times a day, which to those that need a constant connection is frustrating to say the least. I work primarily from home, the office is located in the basement, but it is directly below the main internet connection point, which you would think wouldn't be experiencing the numerous issues I was having.
After shopping online for a suitable replacement, I came across some positive reviews for many of the TP-Link Wireless products. They are the number 1 market share leader in China, (which does speak volumes) and are fully tech supported by Dynapower USA, located in the good old US of A. The awards they have won were from reputable magazines like PC Format, PC World and PC Magazine so I was easily able to make the decision to try and find an authorized dealer in North America.
After making the online purchase, (worthy to note, that it arrived 4 days later) I got to work doing the install. Just to give a little background information on the system I was using, it is a Windows XP SP2, and the wireless router that I connect to is a D-Link DI-524 DWL-G122 Package DWL-922C Wireless Air Plus G (never had any issues with this product at all, very easy set-up). The box contained the usual items needed, a set-up disk (mini-cd), easy to understand instructions (well written in English), and the product itself. (Another of note, at the bottom of the box there was a free USB extender similar to a cradle which I didn't notice at first, so keep this in mind) Basically the installation was easy, and I will also walk you though it.
Set Up Restore Point (I'm Cautious)
Plug In USB Adapter
Cancel The Windows XP Autoinstall (It Thinks The Product Is Something Else)
Place The Mini CD In The Drive
VERY Carefully Choose The Folder For The Product Code You Bought
Double Click The Set-Up File EXE
Choose To Install All Software (We Will Be Semi Changing This After The Install Anyway)
Reboot Your PC (I Do This After Every New Install)
The Configuration Software Will Start And Automatically Gives You A List Of All Available Networks
Choose The Network To Connect To And Enter In Your Network Settings (Most Are Detected For You, The Rest You Would Already Know)
You Are Connected, And You Can Stop Here, Or If You Want Windows To Manage Your Network Follow The Below Steps
Right Click The Wireless Network Connection Icon Located Bottom Right Next To Your Date/Time On The Taskbar...Choose "View Available Wireless Networks"
When The Wireless Connection Window Appears...Under Related Tasks...Choose "Change Advance Settings"
When The Wireless Network Connection Properties Window Appears...Choose The Wireless Networks Tab...And Then Checkbox The "Use Windows To Configure My Wireless Network Settings"
You Will Get A Small Hiccup In Your Connection, (It Will Automatically Reconnect) But Completing These Steps Will Ensure That Everytime, (Addendum, There Are Steps That I Didn't Originally Consider, Read The Next Bullet Point) You Reboot Your Machine And The First Thing That Windows Will Do Will Be To Connect To Your Wireless Network. (Handy For Those That Run Internet Needed Applications On Start-Up)
If You Are Using A Computer That Allows External Program Access, There Is A New Step. Using The "Start" Tab At The Bottom Of Your Screen, Click It And Select "Run...". Type In "msconfig" Into The Window And Hit "Enter".
Select The "Startup" Tab On The "System Configuration Utility" Window That Pops Up, And Find The TWCU entry. Unclick It And Reboot. (When The Windows Warning Pops Up, Tell It To Ingnore The Change And Never Remind You Again) This Will Ensure That Only Windows Has Control Over Your Wireless Connection Without Unneeded 3rd Party Applications.
Reboot Your Machine And Test It Out.
I have had the TP Link Wireless USB Adapter installed for just over 3 weeks (Since 12-03-07) and I haven't had a connection issue since. It has built in eXtender technology, which is excellent for those far away from there Wireless Router, but on top of that, as I said above, a 3 foot eXtender connection was included. (I still haven't needed to use it)
Overall this was a complete surprise to me and an excellent value for what I paid. It rivals other USB connectors that are 3 times the price and I think the only real negative thing I have to say about this product is the connection light is a bright flashing red, (like Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer) and I prefer the conventional green flashing (I'm old school).
Duane Cooper has been reviewing hardware, software, as well as web-based applications and scripts since 2003 and he has had a hand in designing some of the most used web applications for SEO and Internet Marketing. Born on October 3, 1969, she was raised by her parents Dennis and Patti in Fullerton, California and grew up along with her two brothers and sister. Her brother Eric formed the band No Doubt together with friend John Spence in 1987. Gwen joined as a co-singer together with Tony Canal. They dated and became steady until they break-up. That came the song Don't Speak in memory of their seven-years relationship.
Eventually after Eric left the band to pursue his career as a cartoonist and Spence's suicide, she step a notch higher from being a co-singer to the lead singer. Their album Tragic Kingdom made its mark for success as this went on to Billboard Number one charts and accumulate two Grammy nominations for the group. In 2000, the band released their less popular album, Return of Saturn. The song's lyrics are based on her on-the-rocks relationship to then Bush guitarist Gavin Rossdale. This album received good feedbacks from the audience as two of it's singles Hey Baby and Underneath it all received Grammy awards.
She even did collaborations various artist like Moby (South Side), and Eve (Let me Blow Ya Mind). The song "Let me blow your Mind" won Grammy Award's Best Rap/Sung collaboration. In 2004, she decided to release her first solo album via Love, Music, Angel, Baby. This album tackles about her love life, music as her profession, and her baby which she considers as her angel.
Nominated for Album of the Year at 2005 Grammy Awards, this album also bagged 5 hit singles in charts all over the world including Cool, Crash, Luxurious, Rich Girl and What you're Waiting for. She also set a trend in using equally gorgeous and equally hot Japanese girls as her back-ups dancers that she later called Harajuku girls. Her single first single What you're Waiting for was nominated Song of the Year from different award-giving bodies. Apart from that, she did a cover song from a 1990 British pop song If I were a Rich Man which used in the musical Fiddler on the Roof, entitled Rich Girl which is her second collaboration with Eve.
Aside from her top hit singles, she is also known for her distinct taste in fashion. She is known for her red hot lipstick and also into midriffs and short skirts to expose her sexy legs. Being a natural brunette, she sometime change her hair color from pink to blue and use wigs of different styles and colors. She also adopted Japanese fashion with high-knee socks and miniskirts topped with marine-collared blouses. That way of clothing makes her a hot rock diva even if some of fashion critics despise the way she dresses.
Another interesting facet in her career is her marriage to Gavin Rossdale. They met in December 1995 in a No Doubt concert and keep their relationship in the eyes of media to avoid controversy. They got married twice, one in 2002 at St. Paul's Church in London and the second in Los Angeles two weeks later. They got a son named Kingston James McGregor and Rossdale's illegitimate daughter Daisy. Their marriage surpass the odds and keep their relationship for keeps.
This one sexy mama can act, her interest in film drive her to audition for Mr. & Mrs. Smith but her debut performance is by playing Jean Harlow in the critically acclaimed film The Aviatorwith Leonardo di Caprio. She also dubbed her voice for a PS2 and Xbox video game Malice. She has also her own clothing line that she called L.A.M.B. which is taken from her first solo album. As of this date, she already released her own perfume collection.
What makes her at our one hot sexy celebrity list is her natural self being expressed through her music and fashion. Only few celebrities can do that, being able to connect with their audience and to transmit her message effectively. Whenever she appears on screen or perform at stage, you will always see that glint of anticipation and admiration in the eyes of spectators. Along with her sexy disposition as a performer and her interesting personality really brings forth the success in her endeavors.
More celebrity facts at http://onehotsexycelebrity.blogspot.com
I am a new blogger on the loose.
Streamyx Self Installation Guide
Streamyx Technical
Streamyx Entry
Streamyx Combo 90
Streamyx Business Enterprise
Streamyx Combo 110
Streamyx Tmpoint
Streamyx
Streamyx
Streamyx Online Registration
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx Wireless
Streamyx Corporate
Streamyx Business
Streamyx Business Corporate
Over-50s Happy To Use The Internet
The notion that most old people fear technology is fast becoming an outmoded one, as recent figures reveal that more than half of Britons aged over 50 have access to the internet. Of those, one in five regularly access emails, and use instant messaging, internet phones and social networks to keep in touch with family and friends; figures that match the rest of the population.
Over-50s, or 'silver surfers' as they are known, spend almost 205 billion a year in the UK, presenting an enormous opportunity for on-line merchants. However, only a few 'enlightened' companies even consider older people when marketing on-line, with less than 5% of total online marketing budgets targeted at this age group. That is bound to change soon as on-line retailers catch-on, but in the meantime silver surfers are making the most of what else the internet has to offer.
There is anecdotal evidence that there is a hard-core of retired people who could be classified as 'early adopters', due to their eagerness to try out new features online and buy the latest technology. Indeed, many of those have the latest machines and gadgets, including items such as professional standard webcams, so that they can take advantage of free video calls to see as well as talk to their children and grandchildren.
In this day and age when it is much more common for families to live on opposite sides of the world, everyone has much more opportunity to keep in touch with their immediate families, via the internet. Instant messaging has been available for many years, but text based communication is incapable of delivering true emotion or sentiment, resulting in the introduction of a whole new system of graphic emotions using various smiley faces, to which older people tend not to subscribe.
The best form of communication is face-to-face, but when that isn't possible the next best alternative is video calling; a much better option for people who want to talk and not type. And many of the older 'early adopters' have already discovered that as technology is advancing so quickly high-quality images can now be delivered via internet to the opposite side of the world in an instant, allowing them to stay in touch with their loved ones all over the globe. All that is required is that people that wish to communicate with each other via this method have a webcam and the same provider software installed on their PC or laptop.
But, the real beauty of this technology, as many over-50s have already discovered, is that voice and video calls made through the same provider are free. Now, not only can they exchange all their latest news online, they can talk about it for as long as they like safe in the knowledge that it's not costing them a penny!
Who says that old people can't adapt to new technology?
Streamyx Self Installation Guide
Streamyx
Streamyx Activation Waiver
Streamyx 4MB coverage
Streamyx Tmpoint
Streamyx Combo 90
Streamyx Business
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Technical
Streamyx Enterprise
Streamyx Installation Guide
WIMax
Streamyx Corporate
Streamyx - No rental
Streamyx Technical
Exploring the Games in the World of the MMORPG Genre
We all know about the video game console wars that are going on but did you forget about the domination the MMORPG has on the video game market? The heavy weight of the MMORPG gaming division, World of Warcraft, boasts a list of users of in the millions of fans around the globe. Thats just one game. Now multiply that by a hundred or so for the other games out there and it is easy to see why MMORPGs have become the most played games in the world.
The term MMORPG is short for Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games. What makes these games different from all others is the way the game is played. They consist of a constant world for hundreds to thousands of gamers to all play at the same time and interact with one another. There is a running fee of $10 to $15 per month on top of any price that you paid for the actual game. Here are the top five MMORPG game available:
World of Warcraft ?When it comes to the genre of MMORPG there is Blizzard Entertainments World of Warcraft and then there is everyone else. It is hands down the most popular and best operating game in this style. It does this through a combination of exceptional artistry, paced gameplay, an engaging and always expanding world, and an interface system like no other.
EverQuest II ?If it wasnt for people playing Everquest, then there probably wouldnt be a genre of MMORPG video games. As you can imagine, Everquest II had some pretty big shoes to fill and it did so plus much more. Lets go over the reasons why games simply love this game. First off the graphics are exceptional, the extensive use of voiceovers is perfectly worked into the gameplay, character creation is easy yet extensive, and the combat system is better than anything else out there.
Final Fantasy XI ?Unless youve been living in a cave for the past twenty years, then Im sure you are aware than there is a video game series called Final Fantasy and its kind of a big deal. Now, the series most known for consoles has expanded into a MMORPG. The gameplay is set around three powerful nations protecting the world of Vana'diel from enemies of hostile beastmen. The thing that makes this different from the rest of the game so this list is that it is the first MMO that allows PS2, Xbox 360, and PC users too all play in the same universe.
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes ?This game offers gamers like you and me a seemingly huge and endless world with elaborate crafting of players skill such as a much hyped diplomacy system with which you can sway NPCs. Vanguard isnt for the faint of heart since it is a demanding game in comparison to many other MMORPGs, both in terms of hardware requirements and time requirements. The gameplay holds a considerable amount of depth, and is an ambitious project for a gamer to challenge.
EverQuest ?No matter where the genre of MMORPGs develops from here, there will always be a special place in the hearts of gamer for EverQuest. It was the first of its kind to be played in 3D game to take hold in the US. Even to this day it still commands a very large player base, and some say has more content than any of its competitors. It takes place in a mythical realm full halflings, ogres, healers, necromancers, and monsters, featuring a remarkable level of character specialization.
SoundOnUSA offers practical wireless audio solutions. Unfortunately, this is an area of heavy jargon and it's important that you are able to come to terms with these factors in order to understand when you're getting a good deal, and to assist you in making your broadband package selection. Additionally, the contract terms offered by some broadband providers are in themselves equally confusing, and making sense of what's going on can be a tricky process. So what should you look for in selecting a broadband package, and what does it all mean?
Well, luckily for you you don't really have to understand what they all mean. But you do have to have a rudimentary knowledge of what you can expect. The most common base line is maximum speed, which will be expressed as KBPS, or kilobytes per second. Alternatively, it's just cited as being '2 meg' or '8 meg', as in 'megabytes per second'. Whilst the speed you choose will depend on what you use your broadband for, it will also turn on the quality of your broadband access and some local areas are physically incapable of receiving some faster speeds as a result of their current infrastructures. That said, bear in mind when you're buying an expensive package to investigate whether or not you can actually receive the full benefits of your contract.
Another common thing that is a feature of broadband packages is router inclusion. Many providers run special promotions that give away routers in order to encourage sign up. What many customers don't realize is that routers are essential components of the broadband setup if you intend to use more than one computer on that package, and thus it may actually prove to be a good value proposition if you can get a router thrown in for no extra cost.
Where this is an issue, just be sure that you understand the terms of the contract you're getting into. Some providers have contracts on a rolling monthly basis which can be good for students or for those that move a great deal for business reasons. However the vast majority look to tie down customers for twelve or even eighteen months at a time, with heavy 'get-out' penalties which can be quite restrictive. What that means is that you have to take care to ensure you end up choosing the right provider to begin with to avoid encountering any problems with long contract terms.
Broadband packages can present the opportunity for good value for money. Whether you are a consumer or a business, it's a crucial service in modern life and understanding what it is you require is half the battle in getting on your way to a bargain. By understanding both the technical aspects of the package as well as the terms and conditions of the contract to which you are agreeing, you can be fully prepared for any nasty surprises that happen to arise later down the line.
For more information and advice on making sense of broadband packages and the pitfalls of unlimited broadband, as well as advice on wireless security.
Streamyx Combo 60
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo 2MB
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx Business
Streamy FAQ
Streamyx Business
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx - No rental
Streamyx
Streamyx
Streamyx Technical
Streamyx
Streamyx Business Soho
Streamyx Packages
How to Secure a Wireless Network
I use both a wired and wireless network at home. I am fortunate enough to have an Internet Service Provider (ISP) that provides up to three IP addresses. I connected a switch to my modem, and two routers (one wired, and the other wireless) to the switch. Each router has a separate IP address from my ISP. My desktop is connected to the wired router, while two laptops connect to the wireless one. I can connect either laptop to the wired router with a network cable if I choose to as well.
The biggest issue I wanted to address when setting up the wireless network is that of security. I have always been skeptical of wireless security, but since I have purchased a laptop, I decided to give wireless networking a try.
There is a lot of discussion on how to secure a wireless connection, some good, some bad, and some useless. This post will not go into detail about how to change the router settings to make it secure, but it will discuss what needs to be changed.
Administrative Credentials - Important
This is important whether you have a wireless or wired network. Ensure that all APs (access points) have a good strong password associated with the administrative account. If someone can get into your router because of a weak password, then your network can be compromised. You may also want to change the administrative ID as well.
Enable WPA Encryption - Important
This is probably the most important security measure to take when securing your wireless network. The previous standard called Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) was easy to crack within about 30 seconds.
The new Wi-fi Protected Access (WPA) is more secure and should be enabled. You must also choose a passphrase that will be needed for each computer to connect to your router. Choose a passphase that is long, hard to guess, but easy to remember. Write it down somewhere so you don't forget it. For assistance on creating a strong passphrase, please read my post on creating secure passwords. Follow the advice, but just make the passphrase longer.
Reducing the IP Addresses - Important
Routers allow you to limit the number of IP addresses they assign. If you have one computer, have the router assign only one IP address. If you have three computers, then the router should assign three IP addresses. This won't prevent someone from getting into your network, but if all computers are connected, then the router won't assign any more IP addresses to another computer.
Turning Off Router - Important
If you are going to be away for awhile, such as on vacation, simply turn off the router. If the router is off, then no one will be able to connect to it while you're away. You won't lose your router settings, and simply turn it back on when you return.
Turn off SSID Broadcast - Not Important
This is a debatable option with regards to a wireless connection. Many people would argue that not broadcasting your SSID will help with security. My opinion is that it won't really provide security. Those who you are trying to gain access to your wireless network can easily determine your SSID, whether it is broadcast or not. I have also had problems with connecting to a wireless network when the SSID is not broadcasted, so I leave my setting on broadcast.
Using MAC Filtering - Not Important
Similar to broadcasting the router's SSID, this is also a debatable point. An IP address is specific to a computer, a MAC address is specific to a network adapter within that computer. Enabling MAC filtering on your router only allows specific network adapters to connect to the router. While this may seem like a good idea, it can be a headache to manage the MAC addresses for all the computers that will be connecting to the wireless router. A knowledgeable person will also be able to "spoof" (imitate) a MAC address so it doesn't guarantee security.
Summary
There are many settings that can be changed in your wireless router to make your network secure. This article has listed many of them, and you can make use of all of them or only some. The following, however, should be done to make your connection secure:
Changing the administrative password and ID.
Enabling WPA encryption.
Reduce the number of IP addresses.
Paul Salmon has been involved with computers for 20 years and currently works as a Senior Technical Systems Analyst. What is a T1 and a T3 connection? Why are there better than dsl and cable for business needs?
T1 (1.544 Mbps) and T3 (45 Mbps) connections are traditional business-class digital leased phone lines. The technology is pre-cable and pre-DSL. The main advantage is service: If either one goes down, the phone company will bend over backwards to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Business rely on these lines for their income and a downed line can cost thousands of dollars an hour. They also have time-tested monitoring and diagnostic capabilities to keep them up, so they are more reliable.
A T1 breaks down into 24 channels. Each channel can either be used for a phone line or 64 Kbps of Internet. A business can have 8 phone lines and 1024 Kbps of Internet (16 X 64 Kbps) over a T1 for on average between $300-$500. This is less expensive than paying for 8 phone lines + DSL/cable Internet making it better for them.
A T3 breaks into 672 channels and costs several thousand dollars a month. However, T3 (or DS3) prices have been dropping steadily the last few years and can usually be found for between $3-4,000 in most areas. however, this still makes the cost impractical for smaller businesses in many cases.
Often a business will optimize capability and cost by choosing to install a fractional T1 or T3 rather thsn full. The obvious benefit is reduced cost....and scalability can be built in for those times when surge capability is needed or strategic business growth is planned.
They are also different in that they don't connect directly to the Internet; they connect from one customer to another. So, for example, you could have a private line between two businesses with no Internet security hazards. Many people of course simply connect them to an ISP (whom you then have to pay an additional fee on top of what you pay Ma Bell for the T1 line).
They are symmetrical, unlike most DSL and cable lines; you get the same speed in both directions. Also important for businesses, especially those exchanging data between offices.
Like DSL lines, and unlike cable lines (which are shared), they are dedicated to one customer. Cable service is often unavailable to businesses, so that's another difference.
Not surprisingly, both can be expensive for a small business, T3's absurdly so. Cost mostly depends on distance. This boils down to two simple components; local loop (the cost the local incumbent charges to transport the signal from the end user's central office, otherwise known as a CO, to the point of presence, otherwise known as a POP, of the carrier) and the port (the cost to access the telephone network or the Internet through the carrier's network). Typically, the port price is based upon access speed and yearly commitment level while the loop is based on geography. The further the CO and POP, the more the loop cost.
Unless you are running a business that cannot afford to go down for half a day, you are better off with cable or DSL service. Otherwise....for reliability, scalability, performance, and capacity you'd best evaluate your options for T1 or T3 bandwidth application.
Michael is the owner of FreedomFire Communications....including DS3-Bandwidth.com and Business-VoIP-Solution.com. It plays videos, music, games and so much more. With one single ipod you are able to hold more videos than you more than likely own in your whole DVD collection. So whats the point in having one if you cant fill it up right? Well, that gets alot easier when you are able to find Free Ipod Videos. Believe it or not there are plenty of resources available to you. Its important that you are careful when choosing how to get Ipod media though.
I for one scoured the net to find a place to download ipod media and was disappointed and tortured along the way. I would find just the Movie I wanted to download to my ipod only to find that the file was infected with a virus and there I would be running my ipod to best buy to be serviced. My favorite was when I would find the file I was looking for and after downloading it I would find out it was a file that someone uploaded with one name when it reality it was a south park skit or something along those lines.
Always beware of the sites that you download from. There is more than one site or network out there that is putting virus infected files to be downloaded on purpose. For whatever reason there are many malicious individuals on the net with the sole purpose of spreading viruses. So, while you want to download Free Ipod Videos it is always wise to use a site that is recommended to you. Let somebody elses ipod find out weather the site is reliable or not.
Many sites out there will charge you a per download fee or maybe even force you to pay a monthly membership fee to access their files. To me this is not a good option because either way you are still spending your hard earned money on loading your ipod. The amount of money that families around the world spent over the past couple years to load their ipods is surely a staggering number.
What if there was a better option to download Free Ipod Videos? What if there was a couple sites out there that would allow you to download an unlimited amount of content? What if they guarenteed that all of their content was virus free and that you could download to your hearts content? If there were a couple of sites like this more than likely they would take you hours to find and you would be spending countess hours searching the net for a needle in a haystack right?
Lucky for you and everyone else I've done the grunt work for you. I don't think it is fair to do so, since the people that buy the iPod now actually get these free. As far as I know I paid the same price for a lesser iPod, I should get the applications for free.
1- Download the files after a search or see my blog for the links.
2-You are then going to unzip these files, and you will end up with 8 file/folders.
3-Place Weather.app, MobileMail.app, Stock.app, Maps.app, MobileNotes.app in /Applications/ on your iPod.
4-Put GMM.framework in /System/Library/Frameworks/ on your iPod.
5-Put N45AP.plist in /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/ on your iPod.
6-Put MobileMailSettings.bundle in /System/Library/PreferenceBundles/ on your iPod.
7-You are going to have to set the file permissions to these apps, so everything you just put on your iPod touch must have the following permission : 755, or the applications will not work properly.
8-Reboot.
You are know on your way to appreciate your new iPod touch applications.
You might be wondering how to put these files on the iPod touch. Well first of all, you have to jailbreak your iPod, click here for more information. Also, you are going to need your iPod's WiFi IP address, if you don't have WiFi, this will not work.
To find your iPod Touch Wifi Ip Address go into Settings>wifi>blue arrow on the wifi network you are using and it will be there.
Once that is done, you are going to need to use an FTP client that supports SFTP (Secure FTP). I recommend CyberDuck for Mac OSX it is free and is real easy to use. For Windows, I suggest WS_FTP for the same reasons. Also these two FTP clients will permit you to change the files permissions easily.
There is a possibility of your apps crashing, the solution to the bug is to:
Open Putty on your windows based system. On OS X, you can use Terminal and write:
ssh root@insertIPodTouchesIpAdresseHere.
Login to your iPod touch
username:root
password: alpine.
Once logged in run the following commands, by typing and pressing enter:
/bin/csh
/bin/chmod -Rf a+x /Applications/*
The author of this article runs http://ipod-psp.blogspot.com/ which is his blog that is intended to help people with personal technology.
The iPod apps links can be found on this blog also.
Streamy FAQ
Streamyx Installation Guide
Streamyx
Streamyx
Streamyx Technical
WIMax
Streamy FAQ
Streamyx Fixed Ips
Streamyx Packages
Streamyx Combo 2MB
Streamyx - No rental
Streamyx - No rental
Streamyx Combo 4MB
Streamyx Business
Streamyx Packages
Fax From The Internet - How Does Faxing From the Internet Work?
When fax machines first came on to the market it was often a mystery to their users just how the fax machine took a document, sent it out over a phone line, and then the document managed to come out on the other end looking the same way it did when it was sent. Just as much of a mystery today is how you can send a fax from the Internet to a traditional fax machine. However, the process really isn't that complicated and is easy to understand with some simple explanation. And the best thing, is that it is easy for anyone to use, anywhere around the world!
There are a few different ways to fax from the Internet to a destination fax machine. These various options allow the sender to save both time and money by sending their fax from the Internet rather than from a traditional fax machine. In addition, they allow for paperless communication which is better for the environment and makes organizing documents much easier. In order to see where fax technology has come, it is important to first understand the basics of fax technologies of the past.
The Traditional Fax Machine
The traditional fax machine used a scanner to scan in your document. From there the scan was covered into sound and transmitted via modem, over the public phone system, to another fax machine. At the destination fax machine, the document was reconstructed from the sound, and then it was printed-out using a printer contained within the fax machine. Using a traditional fax machine required a dedicated phone line for the fax machine itself, long distance service for long distance phone calls associated with faxing, and toner and paper to print out any received faxes.
The Computer-Based Fax
As more and more people started using computers connected to modems, the ability was then developed to send faxes through a computer. This method of faxing would send out the document through a computer's modem to a traditional fax machine. In addition, any computer with fax software was also able to receive faxes as long as it was currently turned on and waiting for the fax to arrive. While computer-based faxing was seen as advancement in faxing technology, it still required the use of the traditional phone system and long distance charges still applied for faxes sent out of the local area. In addition, it required the receiving computer to be turned on and waiting for a fax to be sent which was not always practical.
Fax from the Internet Technology
The next advancement in faxing was the ability to fax from the Internet. Faxing utilizing the Internet requires the use of a fax server or fax gateway to move documents from the Internet to the phone system where they can be delivered to the recipient's traditional fax machine. In order to send a fax from your email client the document travels on a path from your computer, through a fax server or fax gateway, through a regular phone line, and ends at the destination fax machine. One of the biggest advantages in being able to fax from the Internet is the ability to send and receive multiple faxes at one time. In addition, faxing using the Internet does not require that the recipient's computer is turned on in order for them to receive your fax transmission.
How to Choose the Right Service For You
There are many services online that allow you to fax from the internet. Which service is the right one for you? Find out here
Fax From the Internet
Streamyx Free Gifts
Streamyx Corporate
Streamyx
Streamyx Coverage
Streamyx
Streamyx Business
Broadband Malaysia
Streamyx Combo 512k
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo 110
Streamyx
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx Online Registration
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx
The Social Impact Of Camera Phones: Value And Voyeurism
Compact and practical, digital cameras have become a primary feature on many modern cell phones. First introduced commercially around 2002, camera phones allow users to take (and share) photos quickly, easily, and unobtrusively. While this is highly convenient for many, the availability of such powerful technology does raise certain privacy concerns.
The near-omnipresence of these devices has had a profound social impact, as taking someone's photo is no longer an easily identifiable act. Camera phones allow people to take photos without drawing attention to themselves, as they may appear to be talking, browsing the Web, or otherwise merely using their phone. With such information so easily gathered, shared, and sometimes made public, an impact on privacy is inevitable.
Because of these issues, certain organizations and places have, on occasion, placed bans or restrictions on the use of cell phones. Government organizations, schools, and certain companies where personal or credit card information is viewed on a daily basis, often have outright bans on the use of camera phones. Unfortunately, such bans are very difficult to enforce, as cell phones are often small and easily hidden or disguised.
Impact Overseas
In South Korea and Japan, all camera phones are required to make a clearly distinguishable sound whenever a photo is taken, to help alleviate concerns about surreptitious photography. In the United States, camera phones have often been used in industrial espionage, as well as by the paparazzi to take photos of celebrities. One of the primary advantages (and problems) with camera phones is that even if their use is prohibited, photos can often be taken in secret -- and, with the ability to share or send pictures instantly and wirelessly, even if the photographer is discovered, the "damage" is already done.
A Positive Note
Not all camera phone use is abusive, however -- far from it. In 2007, New York mayor Bloomberg announced a plan encouraging people to use their camera phones to document crimes in progress and send the images or video directly to 911, making the camera phone a potentially valuable tool in crime prevention. Images of the 2005 London bombings were shared instantly and even featured on CNN, and some predict that journalists both amateur and professional will be using camera phone footage more frequently as time goes on.
As with any emerging technology, the camera phone is neither good nor evil, but depends on how it is put to use. While the potential for abuse and invasion of privacy certainly exists, the potential benefits of such rapid information-sharing are also considerable. When laws, courtesy, and <a target="_new"href="http://www.wirefly.com/resources/etiquette/">basic etiquette are respected, the camera phone can become a powerful and positive tool.
Daniel Swensen is a freelance writer who covers websites like <a target="_new"href="http://www.wirefly.com">Wirefly and <a target="_new"href="http://www.icine.org">Icine.
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Enterprise
Streamyx Business Soho
Streamyx
Streamyx Soho
Streamyx Business Broadband
Streamyx
Streamyx subang Jaya
Streamyx Combo 1MB
Streamyx Business
Streamyx Packages
Streamyx Promotion
Streamyx Entry
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo 384k
Night Vision WiFi Cameras - Extremely Useful And Versatile
The Grand WiFi Camera Pro Model II Night Vision camera is an extremely versatile system with the ability to serve as a webcam, security cam or to record multimedia content.
The camera is totally wireless and can be used to monitor or watch a baby from anywhere in the world. It can do the same for a door, or barn or swimming pool, to help deal with children sneaking in to use private pools and prevent drownings or other injuries. The camera sells with everything needed for installation to a network and the manual is downloadable from the internet.
The camera is compatible with wireless LAN 802.11g (54Mbps), and also supports 802.11b (11Mbps). The camera can support 640 x 480, 320 x 240, and 176 x 144 formats. The camera will also easily switch from USB to IP cam modes with provided cables for IP mode and a button on the camera itself.
The bundled software allows MPEG 4 capture, automatic replacement of the oldest saved video files when space is no longer available and a motion detector which can sound an alarm when motion is detected.
The camera does have requirements. These are a router (with DDNS or PPPoE function), 10Base-T Ethernet or 100Base TX Fast Ethernet, Intel Pentium3 800 MHz, AMD 800 MHz or Faster processor, 64M RAM or above, VGA card with 8MB memory or above, Microsoft DirectX 9 and Internet Explorer 5.0 or above. The system does not come with a self contained power source, and thus requires a power connection.
There are six infrared LEDs to allow the use of the night vision mode.
The camera currently sells for $136 and ships around the world. The camera operates in Operating Systems in several languages, English, Spanish, Dutch, German, Italian, Russian, French, Japanese and Traditional Chinese while the manual is available in English, German, Dutch and French.
The obvious uses of the camera include serving as a movable security camera, as part of a web conference system to allow the camera to be moved easily about a physical conference room to facilitate the view of people at other sites or even as a means of keeping an eye on something from far away, from the baby mentioned above to a display at a zoo or even a soft drink machine. These cameras can be used to watch outdoors pets at night, or farmers can use this system and a signal repeater to keep watch on barns or fields. For webconference use, this camera appears desirable due to the ease of moving around a conference room, allowing the users to switch from one location to another for the convenience of the off-site participants.
In theory, a user can even use this camera to create a home security system, not up to professional standards, but certainly capable of seeing what is stealing the dogfood or knocking over the trash cans at night. It might even be used to see how squirrels are breaking into the squirrel-proof bird feeders.
Practical Solutions provides complete GPS, mobile navigation/mapping and other hi-tech solutions! Of course, you open the box in a hurry and now you're looking for the iPod instructions but you can't find one. Your last resort would be to go online and find one fast. There are a lot of iPod instructions out there. Some are free and others are for sale.
Here's a tip though. You don't have to read and learn everything in one day, let alone in one hour or thirty minutes. To be able to enjoy your iPod, just learn how you can put your songs into your iPod first. Then later on as you think of a feature you want to use, learn how you can do it.
Getting the Basic iPod Instructions
First off, inspect your iPod physically. Look at all the keys and buttons that it has. Then you can try turning it on by clicking on any key. But wait a minute because you don't have any songs on it yet. You must first load your favorite songs on your iPod.
For loading songs, you will need to download iTunes into your computer. Again familiarize yourself with its interface. If you have existing songs in MP3 format, load them to iTunes. Find where these songs are and then click on them and drag them to the iTunes window. To check if they were added to iTunes, look for a plus sign beside its name on iTunes.
You can also add songs from your CDs. Get your favorite CD and load it while you are online. Then look for the import button on the iTunes window and click it. iTunes would then start adding the songs on your CD.
Another option you have also is going to iTunes music store. You can look for the songs which you don't have yet. Or, you can also find new songs of your favorite artists. Listen to them through a 30-second preview. If you like them, then buy them.
Once you've got everything in there. You can now sync the playlist on iTunes to your iPod. Get the USB cord that came with your iPod and connect it to your computer. Go to the files menu and hit sync iPod. The time you have to wait would depend on how many songs you have on iTunes. But be patient. Do not touch anything on your iTunes window on your first sync if you don't want to incur any problems.
Whew! You are all set to listen to your favorite songs on your iPod. Use the click wheel in browsing through the menu items. Click on it to view and press to the right to go to the next song and to the left to go to the preceding song on the playlist. To rewind, press it to the left and hold it; to forward a song, press it to the right and hold instead.
More Tips
The next time you sync your iPod, you may also want to add just a few songs. What you can do is to go on manual mode. Then just click and drag the songs to the iPod icon to add them. Just like any other storage device, you would have to eject it properly before physically disconnecting when you are done. Perhaps that's enough iPod instructions for now.
Find out which is better iPod vs. Zune by visiting http://www.appleipodaccessoriesguide.com a popular iPod website that provides tips, advice and resources for online dating to include information on the
risks of buying used iPods
Streamyx Packages
Streamyx Tmpoint
WIMax
Streamyx Business
Streamyx - No rental
Streamyx Free Gifts
Streamyx
Streamyx Business Soho
About Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Business
Streamyx - No rental
Streamyx Tmpoint
Streamyx Soho
Streamyx Speedometer
Streamyx Packages
Broadband, Policy and the Future
There is no heavy technology in a recent New York Times story on growth of Internet congestion. That's for the best, since two of the worthwhile points the piece makes would be obscured if readers were knee-high in bits and bytes. The takeaway is that the dramatic stresses on the Internet - in the form of both a higher volume of data and the need to support far more finicky convergence applications - is being met by an equal growth in the technology. In other words, demands are growing, but so are the Internet's capabilities.
Maintaining this equilibrium going forward is more than a technical issue. The writer says it also is a matter of public policy, which is a big deal in an election year. Clearly, there are more pressing issues for the candidates to deal with, such as the overall economy and the war in Iraq. The approach to broadband infrastructure nonetheless is a very important issue in terms of the nation's competitiveness.
The Internet is so fundamental that broadband policy has become an important national issue. A recent executive summary from a long report from EDUCAUSE backs provisioning of 100 Mbps of capacity to every home and business in America by 2012. This would be paid for by a $100 billion Universal Broadband Fund.
The organization, which advocates the use of information technology in higher education, suggests that there will be a shortfall of capacity in the near future and says that the United States is lagging behind other nations because of our deregulatory approach. The writer concedes that such an approach offers some benefits. It has a fatal flaw, however: Many elements that are important to society but not in the interests of the companies building the network get short shrift. Benefits of upgrading to 100 Mbps include fiber's lower maintenance costs and a huge stimulus to the economy. Such networks could expand beyond 100 Mbps.
Public versus private seems to be shaping up as a vital issue. Here, Reclaim the Media editorializes on California's Broadband Task Force's final report. The report and the editorial say that there are about 2,000 communities in the state without broadband access and many others that are underserved. The editorial bemoans the fact that the task force advocates the use of private providers to build out the system. A better approach, the paper says, is public ownership. This will give communities more control over their telecommunications futures.
The general consensus is that we are at a crossroads in terms of our national telecommunications infrastructure. That was a point made by Michael Kleeman last autumn in the San Francisco Chronicle Kleeman, a senior fellow at UC San Diego and at the Annenberg Center for Communication at USC, wrote that the telecommunications infrastructure is as real as that supporting water, electricity and roads. The basic difference - that it is invisible to end users - doesn't lessen its relative importance. The bottom line, he says, is that the traditional Internet infrastructure can't support the demands increasingly being put on it. Writes Kleeman:
"It's as if every home in America suddenly needed 10 times more water at 10 times the quality coming out of the same sized faucet. Today, the average home uses as much bandwidth as a major office park did a few years ago."
He says that the United States has gone from fourth to 15th place in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's broadband ranking.
The United States isn't the only nation facing these issues, of course. This Telegraph story outlines similar challenges in the UK. If anything, the situation is more stark: 90 percent of Brits connect via broadband. The comments are similar to remarks about infrastructure on this side of the Atlantic. The common wisdom seems to be that demand is growing at a frightening pace, but that if prudent measures are taken - such as herding folks into the type of service that most suits them and transferring some demand onto wireless - the situation can be handled.
Streamyx Combo 110
High Speed Streamyx
Streamyx subang Jaya
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx 512k
Streamyx Combo Terms and Conditions
Streamyx Combo 90
WIMax
Streamyx Home Basic
Streamyx Technical
Streamyx Combo 384k
Streamyx Combo 512k
Streamyx Installation Guide
Streamyx Combo 160
Streamyx Combo 60
New Technology Knocks DDOS For Six!
New Anti-DDOS Technology resulting from left of field thinking about how to defend against a "Distributed Denial of Services Attack". Initially it was thought that a software solution, might by itself be able to eradicate the problem. Current mainstream defense utilize mainly hardware solutions like "The Planets" Cisco Guard.
Any Hosting Company would know that the cost to host companies begins at ~ $90,000 US.D. just for the base equipment, and then increase that to ~ $150,000 and one is getting close to a state of the art hardware solution.
Other less expensive solutions involve combined tri-plex solutions utilizing part hardware, software, and staff intrusion management. (i.e. some one must get out of bed and flick a switch)
These tri-plex models can be automated to some degree, but still require personal system manager monitoring.
Anti-DDOS engineers know that for most small businesses and domestic server web sites, the costs of either of these solutions is prohibitive, and that many such clients have been forced right out of business.
The New Hi-Tech solution deploys a carefully thought through means of identifying the point of ddos exploitation and approaching the problem that way, as apposed to identifying the type of threat. DDOSBOTS specifically target certain hardware, and software weaknesses in existing systems. Symntec Intel shields these weaknesses utilizing its advanced tailored design to accommodate these weaknesses, denying DDOS access to exploitive areas. As this technology is literally just off the shelf, the nature and scope of the design and system can not yet be revealed.
Editor: Gordon Doherty
Admin: Symntec Intel
http://www.symntec.net
Streamyx Activation Waiver
Streamyx
Streamyx - No rental
Streamyx Business Corporate
Broadband Malaysia
Streamyx Combo 90
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx Combo 110
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo 4MB
Streamyx Self Installation Guide
Streamyx Enterprise
Streamyx
Streamyx Packages
Streamyx Self Installation Guide
High Speed Internet Connections - A More Efficient Way To Stay Connected
The right information and access to the same has become very important in the present day world. People need to remain in the knowledge of the multitude of news, views, opinions and developments to stay ahead in their respective areas of work. The importance of the internet can be understood in this context. As a matter of fact, the world wide web together with internet connectivity has brought in a revolution of sorts in way we are 'networking' with others - here and now.
The point is that for some time now, the internet has been the facilitating medium wherein users can connect, socialise, chat and keep in touch with people and events. The availability of "broadband" internet has accelerated this entire process. Users are now connecting with others at speeds that were unimaginable even a couple of years ago.
These connections are better than dial-up ones. This is because the speed at which the internet can be accessed is significantly higher. As a matter of fact, the speed of data transmission is more than 200,000 bits per second in one direction. This is possible due to the incorporation of the latest transmission technologies. The text, images and sound are converted into digital bits before being transmitted.
High speed internet connections are quite invaluable for both professional as well as casual users. One can attach personal computers to these connections and make the most of some very unique services. It is possible, for instance, to use the high speed broadband connections to make long distance calls at very economical rates. Broadband users can also go for online shopping and web surfing and be assured of a completely trouble-free experience. Moreover, unlike dial-up connections, the phone lines are free and can be used for making calls.
They have several merits to their credit. It is very easy to transfer and upload important files and documents, for instance. There is also an element of cost efficiency, wherein users can do without printing all the information that is required in specific instances.
Jack Daniel is an expert author and the webmaster of Mobile Phone Blog.
